What is Bridge?
According to the Oxford English Dictionary, Bridge is the English pronunciation of a game called Biritch, which was also known as Russian Whist. Many variants of bridge have been played for centuries. The modern game emerged following rule changes proposed by Harold Vanderbilt in 1925, which were designed to make the game more challenging, interesting, and balanced. And the changes delivered in spades!
